About Mary

Mary Parsons is a watercolor, acrylic and illustrator whose work is inspired by small towns, coastal marshes, and the quiet beauty found in everyday places.

She earned a degree in Art Education from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1990 and has spent her career sharing creativity with others — both through her own art and through teaching.

Her paintings explore a sense of place and memory, capturing familiar streets, peaceful landscapes, vibrant poppies, and meaningful homes. Whether working from observation or personal reference, she is drawn to atmosphere, light, and the emotional connection people have to the places they love.

When she’s not painting, she can often be found in the classroom, encouraging young minds, or enjoying a good book. She also accepts a limited number of commissions, including custom home, college buildings and landscape portraits.
